Who can volunteer?
Anyone over the age of 16 is applicable to volunteer. Volunteers under 16 are welcome to attend however they will need to

When will I be required?
You will be needed on Sunday 11th October 2009 and also attendance at one briefing event prior to the event.
Depending on your volunteer role will depend on your start and finish time.

How long will the role last?
Again this depends on your role. The majority of volunteer roles will start at 7am and expect to finish around 4pm. Confirmed start and finish times will be provided

What will I do as a volunteer?
There are a number of volunteer roles available including:

  • Race Marshals
  • Water Station Assistants
  • Race Marshal Supervisors
  • Baggage Assistants
  • Finish Line Distributors
  • I.T Assistants
  • Media Assistants

Each area will have a Supervisor who you will need to register with at the start of the day. You will be provided with a role description identifying your exact responsibilities, location, start time and supervisor contact details

Provide enthusiasm and encouragement to the runners taken part!

How do I know if I’ve been giving a volunteer position?
You will be contacted by a member of our team to confirm your acceptance and provide you with details of your role and dates of briefings

Where will I volunteer?
Volunteers are required throughout the route. We will endeavour to provide you with a location appropriate to you

Will I be trained for my volunteer position?
Volunteer briefings will be provided for volunteers to provide information about your role. It is very important that you attend a briefing to ensure that you are happy with what is asked of you

What will I get for volunteering?
All volunteers will be provided with lunch, certificate and volunteer T-shirt and Sweatshirt. Depending on your role, additional official kit will also be provided

How should I dress?
Ensure you have comfortable footwear, clothing layers for hot, cold and wet weather. You will be provided with an official T-shirt and Sweatshirt to wear and depending on your role additional volunteer kit.

Are travel expenses available?
Public Transport and car parking expenses can be reimbursed. You will need to provide any travel tickets to us foe reimbursement to be possible. We CANNOT reimburse any parking fines

Where can I park?
We can suggest parking areas that will be available on the day depending on your location. This information will be provided once your role and location has been identified.

What do I need to bring with me?
As little as possible. There will be no secure areas to store personal items and so we suggest you only bring items that you can carry
