The EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon

In October 2008 Birmingham staged the first ever EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon. The event was organised by Birmingham City Council and sponsored by EDF Energy, one of the UK’s largest energy providers. The event attracted nearly 9,000 entries and in 2009 it will be staged alongside the 18th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships.

The course for this event will be almost identical to the course for the 18th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships and it is hoped that this unique opportunity to literally run in the footsteps of the world’s best runners will inspire even more people from Birmingham, the West Midlands region and even further a field to take part in the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon in 2009.
